The 2017 Nissan GT-R Track Edition, now with Nismo parts

For those aspiring Nissan GT-R owners who want something more for trackdays, but do not want to shell out for the GT-R Nismo, Nissan USA now offers the 2017 GT-R Track Edition. For an additional $18,000 US on top of the standard GT-R, Nissan's GT-R Track Edition will get you Nismo items found on the GT-R Nismo.

On the outside, new to the Track Edition include a new dry-carbon rear spoiler, 20 inch Nismo forged aluminum wheels, and Nismo fenders. Inside, the interior has also been given an update to match the track-spec exterior by having a black and red theme. The standard seats have also been replaced with Recaro units to make the driver have a more snug feel. A Track Edition badge has also been placed inside to further differentiate it from the base GT-R Premium.

To make the Track Edition handle better for the track, Nismo has tweaked the suspension to make it stiffer along with reduced weight. Additional adhesive has also been used, in addition to spot welding, helps increase body rigidity versus the standard GT-R Premium.

Engine wise, the 3.8-liter VR38DETT twin-turbo V6 still retains the same 573 PS and 633 Nm of torque, and is still channeled to the road through a sequential six-speed dual clutch gearbox. A titanium exhaust system is also standard on the Track Edition.

Since the Track Edition is not as hardcore as the Nismo, standard amenities from the GT-R Premium include a Bose sound system which has an active noise canceling to filter out unwanted noise. Acoustic glass further reduces wind and road noise inside the cabin.

With the addition of the GT-R Track Edition, aspiring GT-R owners now have more options to choose from aside from the base Premium model and the hardcore Nismo edition.
