Italian-Chinese supercar pricetag at €3 Million

When Shanghai-based auto design firm Icona unveiled the Vulcano supercar at the 2013 Shanghai Auto Show, it left a lot of details hanging and questions unanswered. The Italian design firm based in China hired French designer Samuel Chuffart as Director of Design to come up with the rather voluptuous exterior and futuristic interior.

For engineering, it tapped Claudio Lombardi who was racing director of Lancia from 1982 to 1991 and masterminded numerous world champion cars of Scuderia Ferrari as powertrain director. Lombardi and his team at AIPA which includes Mario Cavagnero of Italtecnica, Beppe Volta, and Stefano Carabelli from Actua has put in a rear-drive V12 engine mated to a hybrid gearbox which produces 963 PS.

The Vulcano rolls on 20" x 10" and 21" x 12.5" wheels, front and rear, respectively wrapped with Pirelli P Zero ultra high performance tires with a new nano-composite compound for maximum grip. Brembo high-performance 380mm carbon ceramic rotors and 6-piston calipers provide the stopping power.

Icona claims performance figures of 0-100km/h in less than 2 seconds, a standing quarter-mile time of 9.7 seconds and a top speed of 350km/h. Nobody has seen the car run, there are no actual photos of the car running as well. Only photos revealed by the design companies are renderings and a photoshopped set that shows the car with flames in the background.

The price sings a tune to the sound of €3 Million (approximately PHP167,225,760).
