Swarovski and Maison Lesage integrated
Citroen, recently released details and images of the Divine DS concept car slated to appear at the 2014 Paris Motor Show. Besides carrying a distinctive style externally and internally, the concept car will also brandish “French elegance” as products from French brands like Lesage and Swarovksi will incorporate the interior of the car.
The front end features a rectangular grill with diamond-shaped inserts along with a sleek bumper design that is accented further with sleek headlights. It also features what the company calls “DS Wings”, a trademark look first used on the DS 5LS. The side profile of the car features a “seamless” chrome trim that is placed along the doors and then encircles the thin taillights. Muscular arches fill the rear quarter section while the taillights themselves resemble the shape of the headlights. Finishing rear section of the car are a set of dual exhaust pipes that exit at the lower section of the bumper. A unique design input for the exterior is the “scaly design” of the roof. According to the French automaker, it plays on the light contrasting effects; matt and satin, opaque and transparent. The scale pattern runs from the roof of the car up to rear window and is also present on the door mirrors. It's painted in a gray metallic finish that sheen and accentuates that DS Divine's flowing lines.
Inside, the Divine DS introduces the “Hyper Typage” concept. A selection of interior trim that are made from choice materials that are mostly used in high fashion. Currently, there are 3 trim selections available and they can be easily swapped with one another in as easy as 15 minutes. First up is the Mâle, a carbon fiber themed upholstery that is aimed for focused driving. It is contrasted by pearl stitching that come in red and black. Next is the Parisienne Chic, which focuses on “Parisian sophistication and elegance”. It has a full-grain ivory colored leather interior and comes along with pleated silk and satin that are embellished with beads and crystals and sewn by the well known French embroidery, Maison Lesage. Last is the Fatale Punk, a theme that mixes dark colors and glam. It is primarily covered in deep black padded leather decorated with crystals and piercings. The door trim are covered in Swarovski fabric, which are embedded tiny crystals that glimmer.
Accompanying the lavish interior is the 'cockpit driving position' that feature digital instruments. A new HD Touch Drive user interface runs on a 10.4-inch screen that is located on the overhead console. The interface frees up space from the dashboard and also incorporates the rear view mirror. A heads-up display is present above the steering wheel that shows driving information needed. A holographic display behind accompanies it and lets the driver see navigation information without needing to take the driver's eyes off the road.
Powering the concept car is a 1.6-liter-liter turbocharged direct injection gasoline engine that produces 273 PS with a torque pull of 330Nm at 1900-5500 rpm. It meets Euro 6 standards and puts out 145g of CO2 per km.
