Paris 2016: Next-gen Hyundai i30 revealed in the metal image

New hatchback publicly revealed after its online debut

After revealing the 2017 i30 online several weeks ago, the automaker has officially introduced the new-generation hatchback in the metal at this year's Paris Motor Show.

Its exterior follows Hyundai's 'Fluidic Sculpture 2.0' design language with its sloping roofline and character lines. It also has new design elements such as its new cascading grille including the chrome-plated dots. This top of the line model is fitted with a three-projector full LED headlamps, vertical daytime running lights including an indicator function, and fog lamps integrated into the air curtains. Wheel sizes available in the 2017 i30 include 17-inch two-tone ten-spoke alloy wheels, 16-inch two-tone ten-spoke alloy wheels and 15-inch steel and alloy wheels.

Meanwhile, the interior of the new generation i30 uses a wide, horizontal layout for its dashboard. According to Hyundai, this “conveys an impression of elegance and a feeling of roominess”. Aside from this, it also has new multifunction three-spoke steering wheel with repositioned buttons. Standard models get a five-inch LCD touch screen along with an integrated dynamic rear-view camera, Bluetooth connectivity and My Music functionality.

On the other hand, the i30 is also available with an 8-inch infotainment touch screen on the dashboard wherein navigation, media and connectivity features are housed. The all-new i30 supports both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto that let its users connect their devices and sync it with the system.

Under the hood, it is fitted with a range of small-displacement turbocharged gas and diesel engines. The two gas engines composed of the new 1.4 T-GDI turbocharged four cylinder engine producing an output of 140 PS, and the 1.0 T-GDI turbocharged three cylinder engine producing an output of 120 PS The only naturally-aspirated gas engine is the 1.4 MPI four cylinder producing an output of 100 PS.

For the diesel, it is fitted with a 1.6-liter engine with three power outputs available. This engine can be rated at 95, 110 or 133 PS. In addition, the engines are mated with either a six-speed manual transmission or a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission (7DCT).
