Back on track

Based on the combined reports from the two main auto industry groups, CAMPI and AVID, vehicle sales in February 2012 experienced a double digit growth compared to January.

The Chamber of Automobile Manufacturers of the Philippines, Inc. and the Truck Manufacturers Association registered total sales of of 10,681 units in February 2012, representing a growth of 29 percent compared to January 2012 where CAMPI and TMA sold 8,296 units.

The Association of Vehicle Importers and Distributors (AVID) likewise posted double digit growth at 14 percent by selling 2,881 units in February 2012 as compared to January 2012's 2,526 units, or 46 percent growth when compared to February 2011's 1971 units.

The auto industry total is brought up to 13,502 units* for the month of February 2012 taking into account AVID, CAMPI and TMA, which, when compared to January 2012's 10,762 units*, brings the overall growth of the industry to 25 percent.

* - CATS Motors, being a member of both CAMPI and AVID, is logged on the totals of both associations, hence they would have registered as having sold double their actual figure. We subtracted their monthly sales of 60 units in February to account for this.
