Diesel electric hybrid shows possible future offerings for French brand

Local Peugeot distributor Eurobrands Distributor Inc. (EDI), highlighted its 2014 Philippine International Motor Show display with the 508 HYbrid4 diesel electric hybrid car.

Although not being offered for retail sales, the 508 HYbrid4 previews possible future offerings for the French brand if legislation to favor cleaner vehicles with tax incentives is passed by the government. The diesel hybrid boasts of very low CO2 emissions of 85 g/km with a 30.6 km/l fuel mileage.

Visually, the HYbrid4 version is identical to the standard 508 executive sedan except for different wheels and a HYbrid4 badge. The trunk however gets 118-liters less space because of the batteries for the hybrid system.

Under the hood is a 2.0-liter inline-4 common rail turbo diesel coupled with an electric motor assist which pushes out a total of 197 PS and 500 Nm of torque (161 PS diesel, 36 PS electric; 300 PS diesel, 200 Nm electric). This is mated to a 6-speed automated manual.

It was joined at the show by 3008 Crossover, the 5008 Compact MPV, the 508 Executive Sedan, the Expert Tepee Family Van and the RCZ Sports Car.
