One-of-a-kind car to be auctioned for 2nd time

The original "Pink Panther" car from the popular Pink Panther Show from 1969 to 1976 will be auctioned off online starting September 4.

At auction for only the second time, the exceedingly rare original "Pink Panther" car is among the most singular-and spectacular-movie and television vehicles ever produced. The car itself, known as the Panthermobile, played a major role in the show and exemplifies the whimsical-modern aesthetic of this era-defining television program.

The car was designed by Jay Ohrberg, the same designer who has a long list of iconic cars under his belt from both the small and big screens. He designed K.I.T.T. from Knight Rider, the DeLorean Time Machine from Back To The Future, two Batmobiles (the original from 1966 and the 1989 movie), the General Lee from Dukes of Hazzard, the Gran Torino from Starsky & Hutch, and even the Flintstone's foot-powered car.

The Pink Panther car was understood to be owned by Mr. Ohrberg until it was entered into auction in June 2007 by COYS. It was then bought for £88,000 by the current owner.

The vehicle is in full original condition and would benefit from some sympathetic restoration as the car is now 42 years old. The engine, a Swansea V5, is not in running condition, though it was believed to be working the last time the Panthermobile was sold in 2007.

It is being offered for sale via an online auction starting on September 4. Visit www.robsonkay.co.uk if you would like to take a shot at owning the Panthermobile.
