718 model series, continuation of the four-cylinder concept

PGA Cars, Inc., the official distributor of Porsche vehicles in the Philippines, recently revealed the Porsche's 718 model line: 718 Boxster and 718 Cayman at the Whitespace Manila. According to Porsche the 718 name pays tribute their winning race car with the same name in the 50's.

718 Boxster

Starting with the 718 Boxster that gets a new design emphasizing its sharpened profile. The front end of the new roadster exhibits a wider and more masculine appearance. The front end of the 718 Boxster is rounded out by the new design of the bi-xenon headlights with integrated LED daytime running lights. At the side, it gets a new, independently styled wings and side sills.

The doors are also now designed without door handle recess covers. New 19-inch wheels are standard on the 718 Boxster S while the 20-inch diameter wheels are available as an option. Meanwhile, the rear features an entirely revamped taillights with three-dimensional LED technology and four-point brake lights.

718 Boxster

Under the hood of the 718 Boxster is a newly developed four-cylinder flat engine with turbo-charging. The 718 Boxster produces an output of 304 PS and 380 Nm of torque from two liters of engine displacement and over a speed range of 1,950 rpm to 4,500 rpm. It can also sprint 0 to 100 km/h in 4.7 seconds with the help of PDK and the Sport Chrono Package. Meanwhile, the 718 Boxster S produces an output of 355 PS and 420 Nm of torque from 2.5 liters of displacement and over a speed range of1,900 rpm to 4,500 rpm. With the same equipment fitted, the car completes this discipline in only 4.2 seconds (0.6 seconds faster). Porsce also used a turbocharger with variable turbine geometry in the S-model.

718 Cayman

The Porsche 718 Cayman, similar to the 718 Boxster, also gets a host of exterior with a nose that has a much sharper profile, ultra-slim front lights, and larger cooling air intakes and upgraded xenon headlights. Viewed from the side, the new sport coupé features its redesigned wings and side sills. The rear gets a wider look with an accent strip in high-gloss black with integrated Porsche badge between the tail lights. The tail lights have been completely redesigned and are distinguished by the three-dimensional look that make the cluster appear to float freely.

Under the hood is the same new four-cylinder flat engines with turbocharging that produces an output of 304 PS and 380 Nm of torque from two liters of displacement and over a speed range of 1,950 rpm to 4,500 rpm. Also, it sprints from zero to 100 km/h in 4.7 seconds Meanwhile, the S models with 2.5 liters of displacement is rated at 355 PS and 420 Nm of torque to the crankshaft at engine speeds between 1,900 and 4,500 rpm.

718 Cayman

Inside, revisions are made for both the 718 Cayman and the 718 Boxster. The upper part of the dash panel including air vents is new. The new sport steering wheel in the 918 Spyder design has now been applied the 718 cockpit along with the Porsche Communication Management (PCM). Apple CarPlay is also an option.

The Porsche 718 Boxster and the 718 Cayman are now available at Porsche Center Philippines.
