A documentary film on the golden age of Philippine motorsports

Manila’s premiere styling and tuning show, the 6th Manila Auto Salon is set to open its gates again on November 29 to December 2, 2012 at the SMX Convention Center, Mall of Asia in Pasay City, but this time around, they're going to do it with a legendary twist.

Alongside with the automotive displays from various aftermarket automotive shops, the 6th Manila Auto Salon will host the promotional launch of the 'Racing with Legends' documentary DVD. It is a documentary about the golden age of Philippine motorsports and is executively produced by Martin Galan, Steven Flor, and Mark Laccay.

"Now that there is this groundswell in Philippine motorsport it is important to let the enthusiast, the professional, organizer, and mechanic know his roots. He or she should be made aware of those who pioneered in the sport" says Martin Galan

The film features interviews with Philippine's racing legends like Paquito Ventura, Dante Silverio, Louie Camus, Mandy Eduque, and Johnny Angeles to give their insights on the local racing scene during the 1950's all the way up to the 80's.

Galan added, "This documentary was made not to glorify individual men as the fastest or the bravest. We pay homage to the group of men and women, who contributed and played significant roles in early years of Philippine motorsports."

“The connection of this special movie to the fans who visit the MANILA AUTO SALON is electric! Even if it happened in an era when perhaps, some of the competitors and participants in the show were not even born yet, it gives a glimpse into why we Filipinos are so enamoured with our cars." expressed event organizer Sophie de los Santos.

The show will have a special exhibit for this featuring our racing legends which will highlight the exploits of such names as Dodjie Laurel, 2-time Macau Grand Prix Champion who perished in a fatal crash in 1967; the much-loved “Old Man of Racing” the late Jose “Pocholo” Ramirez, Butch Viola, Chito Monserrat, Joey Bundalian among many others. Toyota racing champion Dante Silverio and Mercedes Benz rallye driver Paquito “Paco” Ventura are expected to grace the event to meet and greet racing enthusiasts.

The 6th Manila Auto Salon will also be hosting the pre-selling of the said documentary which will be ongoing during the entire duration of the show.
