Special edition one-offs to take inspiration from iconic cars of the past
Ferrari is apparently planning something big for this year's Paris Motor Show after AutoCar UK reported that the brand is set to reveal 350 special one-offs in celebrating the Prancing Horse's 70th anniversary.
Over 70 of Ferrari's most renowned cars have been selected and these have inspired five special edition models in the current model range; California T, F12berlinetta, GTC4 Lusso, 488 GTB and 488 Spider. Enrico Galliera, Ferrari's marketing and commercial boss said that the Maranello team had to go through the company's 70-year history to look for inspiration.
“The whole team at Maranello went back through the 70-year history of the company and tried to identify the most iconic cars of the past in the history of the company, the most iconic exteriors, the most iconic interiors. This means we are going to be producing and delivering 350 unique pieces. Every single car will be unique,” said Galliera.
This could mean that Ferrari will produce 70 special editions for each current model on offer. Galliera added that all 70 one-offs will be made through the company's Tailor-Made division and will be fitted with the latest technology and design available.
The special edition cars however, will only be available to a select few according to Sergio Marchionne, CEO of Ferrari. Marchionne added that it will be quite difficult on how to pick which owners and collectors will have the opportunity to get one of the special edition stallions.
The 2016 Paris Motor Show will be open to the public from October 1 – October 16.
