According to a report by Reuters, Hyundai is considering production of pick-up trucks after the Santa Cruz concept got "good response" during the North American International Auto Show in Detroit last January.
Hyundai's R&D Director Park Byung-cheol said that the company is considering production of pickup trucks but, the company still faces "hurdles," without elaborating further details. With this, it might take a while before we see a pickup wearing a Hyundai badge.
The Santa Cruz concept is designed to meet more of the desires for expression, efficiency and maneuverability of Millennials. Hyundai said that the company's crossover pickup truck concept "doesn't focus on all the same attributes as traditional pickups." It is powered by a 2.0-liter turbo diesel powertrain delivering 193 PS and 406 Nm of torque.
