The manual gearbox could return to the 911 GT range
It seems that the manual transmission is here to stay as Porsche plans to build a new 911 model which will be equipped with a stick-shift. The said model is geared to join the existing 911 GT3 and GT3 RS models.
In a report by Autocar UK, Porsche is working on a “back-to-basics” 911 GT which would be designed to “maximize feel” and “driver interaction.” With this, the manual transmission will return to to the 911 GT range for the first time since 2011.
As of this writing, Porsche remains secretive in handing out details regarding the said model. However, the German automaker reportedly said that “making a car as fast as possible and as enjoyable to drive” are their main objectives.
