Subaru boss Yasuyuki Yoshinaga confirms next-generation BRZ

Subaru and Toyota will reportedly team up once again to produce the next-generation BRZ and GT 86.

Speaking to Automotive News, Subaru boss Yasuyuki Yoshinaga said that the company will build a next-generation BRZ with Toyota Motor Corp.

"We have already agreed with Toyota we will do a full model change. We have not decided when it will be introduced," Yoshinaga said.

However, Yoshinaga declined to give technical details as of the moment.

In related news, Yoshinaga added that Subaru will introduce its first plug-in hybrid in 2018; “mainly as a zero-emissions compliance play.”

According to Automotive News, Subaru doesn't plan to sell the vehicle in Japan, even though hybrid vehicles account for 18-percent of the country's light-vehicle market. The automaker plans to offer the plug-in hybrid vehicle only in markets “where required by regulations.”
