New vehicle battery monitoring device/app combo targets collectors, fleet managers

Swedish "smart" battery charger manufacturer CTEK recently introduced its new Battery Sense at the 2015 Speciality Equipment Manufacturers Association (SEMA) show in Las Vegas. The new product combines a small monitoring device wired to your battery and a smartphone app which allows your battery to "talk to you".

The new product allows users with multiple cars to monitor their batteries wirelessly through their smartphone which connects to the device via Bluetooth. Car collectors and fleet managers will benefit from the innovative product which helps them monitor vehicle batteries from the very phone in their pocket which logs data as well as graph out a battery health history.

The app, available for both iOS and Android operating systems, allow tracking of a virtually unlimited number of batteries (depending on device memory and Battery Sense units) which will display the "State of Charge". The app will warn users if they need to charge well in advance of critical levels to prevent damage to their battery.

"Knowledge of you batteries’ charge level makes it easy to monitor health status and thus maximize your battery performance and service life," said Robert Briggs, Asia Pacific Sales Director of CTEK.

CTEK Battery Sense will be available for the Philippine market early 2016 according to official distributor Waido Marketing.
