Bill to make all road signs and infrastructure uniform filed in senate
Senator Francis ‘Chiz’ Escudero has just filed a bill that addresses an issue raised by a similar bill by Senator Miriam Defensor-Santiago while also tackling road signs and other road infrastructure disparities in an effort to standardize these irregularities.
Senate Bill No. 2886 or An Act Regulating Street and Road Signs, Waiting Sheds, Speed Bumps, Sidewalks, Pavements, Streetlights and other similar infrastructure prescribing the specification and measurement standards therefore and for other purposes mandates the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) to set and define specifications and measurements for all the aforementioned infrastructure and to implement it in the national, provincial, city, municipal and barangay level taking into consideration safety, strength, reliability and suitability factors during construction.
The bill aims to promote consistency and uniformity in all road and street networks not only for beautification but also to enhance safety for motorists who will be informed by appropriate road signs and commuters as well that will benefit from the reliability of such structures.
