Friend-ME concept car designed for China's younger age group
Nissan just revealed its Friend-ME concept, a four-passenger sedan designed for China's younger generation market at the 2013 Auto Shanghai. Although applicable globally, Nissan Friend-ME is aimed to appeal to around 240 million Chinese that were born in the 1980s, during the implementation of the 'one child policy'.
The exterior of the Friend-ME follows the 'Distilled Da Qi' philosophy for its design. According to Nissan Design China's Vice President Taiji Toyota, the design features a balance between standing out and fitting in.
Friend-ME features a low and wide stance with short front and rear overhangs giving a chunky, aggressive and sporty impression. The design’s energy flows from the ‘V-motion' shaped grille and streams through the bonnet and shoulder lines while the headlamps and rear combination lamps are accentuated by its unique boomerang-shaped lighting signature. The Friend-ME will be powered by the Nissan PureDrive hybrid powertrain.
The cabin features four separate seats which all share information such as speed, navigation and other vital information as the driver. Information is shared via a unique center console finished in onyx-black that stretches from the rear passenger area up to the dash. Content can be shared by any of the passengers to all of the occupants from their mobile devices to the on-board screens on their respective seats.
