Shanghai marks world debut for Nissan's hybrid crossover
For the first time in the Murano lineup, Nissan adds a hybrid model to their flagship crossover.
According to Nissan, the Murano Hybrid will bring in more sustainable mobility options to China and enhance SUV offerings in the country. Apart from hybrid badging, The Murano Hybrid is visually similar to the standard Murano models.
The main highlight of the new variant is the new powertrain. Called the QR25DER, it is a 2.5 liter four cylinder with a supercharger paired an electric motor with Lithium-ion batteries for better fuel consumption. The Hybrid shifts through Nissan's Intelligent Dual Clutch System which assists engine response at low speeds while the supercharger aids in acceleration. Nissan claims performance equivalent to V6-3.5L engine but offers fuel economy similar to the 2.0L engine.
According to Nissan, the Murano Hybrid will be on sale in China this summer.
