Lexus premieres the updated LX 570 with 8-speed gearbox, new interior features
After being leaked back in June, Lexus has officially introduced the facelifted LX570 at this year’s Concours D’Elegance in Pebble Beach, California. Aside from the apparent update in its exterior design, Lexus also updated the LX570 with new features in safety and in amenities.
Starting with the exterior, Lexus claimed that every body panel is new apart from the doors which were carried over from the pre-facelift version. The refreshed LX 570 now carries Lexus’ current design philosophy with the front sporting the brand’s single spindle grill, new LED headlights and a restyled bumper.
The side profile gets a slight revision as well courtesy of better defined wheel arches, a pinched third-row window and omitted door moldings. Topping it all off is a set of standard 20-inch 10-spoke wheels and the optional 21-inch wheels. Much like the front, the rear section now conforms to Lexus’ current styling as it gets L-shaped taillights, a more aggressive bumper and a shark-fin antenna.
The updates also spill over into the cabin as the dashboard, center console and steering wheel design also follow suit with Lexus’ current design direction. It has sleeker aircon vents, a center-mounted analog clock, a 12.3-inch infotainment/navigation touchscreen, a 3-spoke multifunction steering wheel, illuminated gauges and a 4.2-inch multi-information display.
New luxury amenities and features that come standard on the refreshed LX 570 include: Drive Mode Select, Lexus Safety System+, tire pressure monitoring system, panoramic view camera, Intuitive Park Assist, Smart Access Keycard system, ambient lighting and overhead console control via touch sensor function.
On the other hand, optional equipment available for the LX 570 are: Heads-Up Display, heated/ventilated middle row seats, dual 11.6-inch screens at the back and wireless charging for smartphones as such.
Powering the updated LX 570 is the carried over 5.7-liter V8 that still produces 386 PS and 544 Nm of torque to all four wheels. Gone is the 6-speed automatic transmission as it has been replaced with a new 8-speed automatic unit for better performance and fuel efficiency as claimed by Lexus.
Safety and security features abound in the Lexus LX 570 which consist of 10 airbags, Pre-Collision System with Pedestrian Protection, Lane Departure Assist, Intelligent High Beam, Radar Cruise Control, Blind Spot Monitoring System and Rear Cross Traffic Alert.
