Stay informed if you're heading south this weekend
The Skyway O&M Corporation (SOMCO), the Manila Toll Expressway System, Inc. (MaTES) and the Star Tollway Corporation (STC) have announced their preparedness plans in anticipation of the increased vehicular volume starting October 27 until November 3 in anticipation of the All-Souls/All-Saints weekend.
Motorists are therefore encouraged to plan their travel beforehand to avoid the traffic rush and delays.
To ensure that traffic moves efficiently and that motorists are safe, the south tollways operators will implement Oplan UNDAS 2014 – Ligtas na Biyahe. SOMCO, MATES and STC will intensify its patrol operations and motorist assistance effort, cancel days-off of their field personnel, deploy ambulant tellers in busy toll plazas, and more closely coordinate with the PNP-HPG and local police in their respective areas of responsibilities to curb possible criminal activities.
Tow trucks and ambulances will be available round-the-clock at strategic locations along the Skyway System, SLEX and Star Tollway to promptly respond to any emergency.
In the advisory, tollway operators would like to remind motorists to check their respective vehicles’ cooling systems, brakes, tires, oil and fuel systems to prevent breakdowns on the road. Likewise, they are advising the public to observe all tollway traffic rules and regulations, especially the speed limit rule, for their own and others’ safety.
For more information and assistance, motorists are advised of the hotlines for the Skyway (+632-7767777 and +63917-5398762), MaTES (+63917-6877539), Star Tollway Corporation (+6343-7567870, +63917-5117827 and 0908-5117827).
