Dashcams aim to further enhance service on south toll roads

In order to raise operational efficiency of the south toll road operators, Skyway O&M Corp. (SOMCO), Manila Toll Expressway Systems, Inc. (MATES) and Star Tollway (STC) have equipped twenty of their patrol vehicles with dashboard cameras or dashcams.

According to SOMCO, MATES and STC, the dashcam would be of great help in emergency situations and in the apprehension protocol of the tollway operator. It records the time, date, speed and flow of traffic to effectively enforce traffic rules and discipline on the toll road.

The dashcam also features a lane departure warning system and a speed alarm to alert patrollers as they perform their duties in keeping the toll facilities safe and secured for all motorists.

As a review, SOMCO operates the 29.8-km Skyway System from Buendia to Alabang while MATES operates the 36-km South Luzon Expressway (SLEX) from Alabang to Calamba and the STC manages the 42-km Star Tollway from Sto. Tomas to Batangas City.
