Toll-free Christmas and New Year's Eve along SLEX, Skyway, STAR and NAIAX

Motorists using the tollways to and from the south may pass through the NAIA Expressway (NAIAX), Skyway System, the South Luzon Expressway (SLEX) and Star Tollway free of charge on Christmas Eve and New Years' Eve. The free toll for NAIAX, Skyway and SLEX start at 10:00 PM on the eves of Christmas and New Year, to 6:00 AM the following day.

Vertex Toll Development, Inc., Skyway O&M Corp. (SOMCO), Manila Toll Expressway Systems, Inc. (MATES), and Star Tollway Corp. (STC), the respective operators of NAIAX, the Skyway System, SLEX and the Star Tollway, extend this toll-free privilege to the south tollway-using motorists in appreciation for their patronage. It is also their way of wishing motorists a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

During the year, SOMCO and MATES have embarked on improvement projects in 2016, a number of which have been completed in time for the Christmas holiday. On the Skyway System, a large section was resufaced for both the at-grade and elevated sections. Similarly, MATES undertook and completed the road repair and asphalting of SLEX stretches like Mamplasan, San Pedro, Alabang, among others.

The thermo-expansion joints of Biñan, Sta. Rosa and Carmona bridges have also been rectified. A comprehensive flood control work has been a top priority especially in Skyway’s Makati-Pasay area and SLEX’s Alaska area, known as flood-prone portions of the south tollway. Vertex recently opened NAIAX’s Phase 2 which links Terminals 1 and 2 to Macapagal Blvd. and the NAIAX ramp which connects Terminal 3 at Andrews Ave. to the Skyway System.

The Southern Tollways operators have already lined up road and toll facilities improvement projects for 2017 in line with their commitments as ISO-certified organizations.
