Coupe and Convertible versions spotted around the 'ring

Following short appearances during winter testing in Germany, the new Bentley Continental GT and its convertible version, the GTC, have now been sighted making rounds at the Nürburgring.

While the test mule in the photos looks camo-free, the real shape of the car is hidden underneath plastic body panels that are shaped like that of the outgoing GT. In truth, only the roof and doors of the vehicle are free of any disguises.

Much like the Flying Spur we saw a few days ago, the Continental GT and GTC will be based off the MSB platform – the very same platform used by Porsche for the Panamera. The biggest merit of this platform sharing for Bentley is the fact that they can apply hybrid powertrains as well as tech developed from Stuttgart into their vehicles as well.

Expect the range-topping GT to propel itself via a 600PS+ W12 motor while the “basic” version of the GT will use the 550PS 4.0L V8 from the Panamera Turbo. There may be a chance that the 440PS 2.9L V6 from the Panamera 4S may make its way into the GT as well. Hybrid powertrains may likely be an updated version of the Cayenne and the Panamera once it makes its debut in 2017.
