The 911 with a fancy-folding roof sees more aggression
While Porsche have already unveiled the new 911’s facelift on some of its models, its higher-tier models have yet to surface sporting the new look. The 991.2, as it is known in enthusiast circles, remains to be seen in GT3 or GT2 guise; These photos however hint that Porsche will be leading towards that, as one of their coveted models has been spotted doing summer testing in Southern Spain: The GTS Targa.
This particular GTS Targa is fitted with what appears to be a GT3-esque front bumper – an item that may be part of some kind of aero/performance package for standard models later on. More cues that hint towards GT3-like performance would be the Targa’s center lock wheels. Rounding up the changes would be the blacked-out Targa roll bar.
As is the case with majority of the 911 lineup, the new GTS will likely be fitted with forced induction in the form of Porsche’s 3.0-liter twin-turbo flat-six. The GTS will come in two and four-wheeled variants and will be made available with a manual or the Porsche Doppelkupplungsgetriebe (PDK) dual-clutch transmission.
No numbers have been revealed for the GTS yet, however a slight power bump is expected along with features such as the Carrera-4 widebody, the Sport Chrono Package, and Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM).
