Berjaya Motor Philippines to be official distributor

Ssangyong, the fourth largest South Korean automotive manufacturer, reenters the Philippines market under the supervision of an all-new distributor - SsangYong Berjaya Motor Philippines (SBMP).

SsangYong Philippines unveiled its all-new product lineup consisting of two SUVs and one MPV. The company will be selling the Rodius MPV, the Korando compact SUV and the Tivoli subcompact SUV in the Philippines.

Ssanyong returns to the Philippines

“We are proud to present to the Filipino motoring public SsangYong’s three core global products in the Rodius, the Korando and the Tivoli. All these models are designed to address Filipino families’ needs for stylish, durable, economic and dynamic modes of transportation,” said Dave Macasadia, SBMP Managing Director

“SsangYong Philippines has studied the growing Philippine automotive market and has seen an opportunity in the Sport Utility Vehicle genre,” shares Macasadia.

Ssangyong Rodius

In Ssanyong's words, the 2016 SsangYong Rodius features MPV versatility with the ruggedness of the SUV. The Rodius is powered by a 2.0-liter turbocharged Direct Injection diesel mated to a five-speed automatic transmission. It also rides on double-wishbone front and multi-link rear suspension.

Ssangyong Korando

Moving on to the Korando, it will be available with three engine options. These include a 2.0 liter gas and 2.0 liter CRDi diesel, both with 149ps. Topping the range is a 2.0 liter CRDi with 175ps. Designed by Giugiaro, the 2016 Korando will be available in four variants to cater to the varied tastes and amenities of the discerning Philippine market.

Ssangyong Tivoli

Slotting below the Korando is the Tivoli. Ssangyong's smallest SUV is powered by a 1.6-liter Dual-CVVT engine with 128 PS and 160 Nm of torque. It is mated to either a six-speed automatic or six-speed manual gearbox.

Supporting the day-to-day operations of the newly formed business is parent company Berjaya Auto Philippines. This is the same company that distributes and promotes the Mazda brand in the country.

More details regarding Ssangyong's newest models will be revealed tomorrow at the 2016 Manila International Auto Show.
