Suzuki Philippines announces the arrival of the Ciaz sedan for 2016
A new sedan will be arriving soon courtesy of Suzuki Philippines after the company announced that the Ciaz will be launched next year.
According to Suzuki PH General Manager for Automobile, Shuzo Hoshikura, the soon-to-arrive sedan will compete in the subcompact segment (B-segment), taking on the likes of the Toyota Vios, Mazda2 Sedan and Nissan Almera as such.
Its exact launch date was not revealed, though it is set to arrive in 2016.
First making its ASEAN debut during the 2015 Bangkok Motor Show, the automaker described the new sedan of having a stylish design, comfortable and spacious cabin, efficient powertrain and high safety standards.
For its design, it features a sporty and elegant finish that consists of defined character lines, prominent arches and splashes of chrome. Size-wise, it measures 4,490mm long (+15mm Aero version), 1,730mm wide, 1,475mm tall and sits on a 2,650mm wheelbase.
Inside, it gets black upholstery that is accented by silver and chrome trim. In terms of equipment, it has automatic climate control, smart key entry and a CD audio system with Bluetooth function. The Aero variant gets additional extras like leather-wrapped seats and touch screen LCD with smartphone connectivity.
The TH-spec Ciaz is powered by a 1.25-liter K12B VVT MPI inline-four that puts out 91 PS along with 118 Nm of torque. It is then mated to either a 5-speed manual or 5-speed CVT.
Like the recently launched Celerio, the Ciaz is manufactured at Suzuki's Rayong plant in Thailand.
