Toyota combines crossover and Shooting Brake design for upcoming ViRA concept

Toyota will be at this year's Tokyo Auto Salon with a rather unique concept that somehow blends the design of a crossover and a 'Shooting Brake' into one. Called the ViRA, it has a sleek and aggressive exterior that conveys a sporty profile and low roofline.

Up front, it a gets shark-like nose, wide honeycomb grill, tapered headlights and cooling vents for the front brakes. Towards the side, it has muscular wheel arches, sloped roofline, side skirts, black alloy wheels and chunky body fenders.

The rear, on the other hand, gets a tailgate with an overly-large glass area, thin wraparound taillights and what appears to be a diffuser-integrated bumper.

Other details about the upcoming concept were not provided, though the ViRA does not reflect any past concepts or the current design language of the company.

The company however did say that the concept's name and overall design is a combination of the Vitz (Yaris) and RAV4.

Toyota will officially be unveiling it at the annual auto show, which is scheduled to take place from January 15 – 17.
