Celebrating 75 years of the BMW Roadster
Asian Carmakers Corporation (ACC), the exclusive distributor of BMW cars and motorcycles in the Philippines, celebrates 75 years of the BMW Roadster with the launch of the all new Z4.
The BMW Z4 offers the best of a coupe with the best of an open top roadster thanks to a two-piece, electro-hydraulically operated Retractable Hard-Top roof that can be raised or lowered in 20 seconds. Driving with the roof down, this two-seater offers a refreshingly intense experience and provides all the comfort of a premium sports coupé.
The design of the new Z4 is characterized by classic details interpreted in a new and contemporary style. The appeal of this two-seater lies in its unique combination of elegance, agility and comfort. The aluminum shells of the two-piece lightweight hardtop come to rest in the roof compartment, thereby maximizing space. Even with the roof closed, the new Z4 retains the proportions typical of a genuine roadster. With these features, the new model is the successor to both the BMW Z4 Roadster and the BMW Z4 Coupé.
Powering the new BMW Z4 is a choice of three six-cylinder powerplants. The range flagship is the Z4 sDrive35i, sporting the current International Engine of the Year-winning 3.0-liter twin-turbocharged motor that produces 306 PS of power. The twin turbo engine can accelerate the car from zero to 100 km/h in 5.2 seconds (5.1 seconds for a Double Clutch Transmission-equipped car) and on to an electronically-limited top speed of 250 km/h.
The standard Drive Dynamic Control function is another first and allows the driver to alter, depending on model specification, the throttle and steering response, level of ride comfort, Dynamic Stability Control response and, on automatic or Double Clutch Transmission cars, gear change times.
"In a nutshell you can describe BMW's new sports car as the fast, beautiful and reliable car bound to give the ambitious sports driver one exhilarating experience after the other," said Mr. Jay Cruz, Sales Director of ACC.
