Third Leg Marks Honda's Successful Fuel Eco Run image

The Totally Amazing Fuel Eco Run, a fuel efficiency driving competition organized by Total (Philippines) Corporation and Honda Cars Philippines, Inc. (HCPI), beckoned truly amazing fuel consumption results on its third leg.

Honda owners drove their 1.8 A/T (AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION) and M/T (MANUAL TRANSMISSION) i-VTEC engine-powered Civic cars under highway driving, with a full tank of Total Premium Unleaded gasoline, traveling a total distance of 73.8 kilometers.

"Life keeps getting better when people learn how to drive efficiently," Mr. Arnel Doria said, HCPI's VP for Marketing and Sales. He added, "Thus, money and gas are saved. One way to teach people with the proper driving techniques is through holding fuel eco run activities for them."

A total of thirty-three (33) customer teams and four (4) media teams trod along the moderate to heavy traffics of Balintawak (Total Balintawak), passed through road works and other obstructions in North Luzon Expressway (NLEX), and made their way to Angeles (Total Angeles). Equipped with efficient driving techniques that they learned from the event's seminar, the participants were able to surmount the highway obstructions.

The campaign to promote fuel efficiency awareness was encouraged by Motolite, the official battery of Totally Amazing i-VTEC eco run, BPI/MS Insurance, Concept One Wheels, and AVT and Intelligent Car Multimedia. Through the help of ABS-CBN, Studio 23, RX 93.1, NU 107, Jam 88.3, 99.5 RT, and RMN Networks, the meaningful and exciting event was made possible.

Department of Energy (DOE) Director and AAP representatives joined the event too. DOE Director Mr. Mario Marasigan highlighted the importance of conserving fuel, using an ideal car, and driving efficiently in today's petroleum crisis in his inspirational speech.

The DOE Hybrid, which was driven by Mr. Emmanuel Roborar and Mr. Gerardo Palabrica, registered 30.14 kms/li. The MT and AT official cars were driven by AAP. Thus, posting 16.85 kms/li and 17.10 kms/li consequently.

Aries Espinosa of Philippine Daily Inquirer and Claudine Najera of Heart Radio registered 24.49 kms/li, topping the 1.8 Civic A/T media category. Mr. Jay Ambrosio won with 22.95 kms/li using M/T under customer category and registered in Honda Cars Marikina. As for the A/T customer category, Mr. Noelito Feliciano generated an amazing record of 47.92 kms/li and registered in Honda Cars Alabang (HCAL).

Participants received exclusive Honda and Total items. Cash and exciting prizes were given to the winning teams with the most fuel efficient Civic. Php 10,000 cash prize, Honda fully synthetic engine oil, and trophy were granted to each winning team.
