Off-road inspired BRZ is 'next trend in urban SUVs'

The Subaru Cross Sport Concept which debuted at the 2013 Tokyo Motor Show is the 'next trend in urban SUVs' according to the Japanese automotive company owned by Fuji Heavy Industries.

The concept vehicle seems to be based on the BRZ sports car platform based on the styling elements and proportions. However, it should come with all-wheel-drive if it would be doing any off-road activity. We think the Cross Sport Concept is an offspring of the BRZ and the XV. The body receives a significant amount of muscular enhancement and comes with LED headlights and tail lights; larger wheels and tires.

The interior is finished with a two-tone color scheme, gloss black accents, alloy pedals, and leather/Alcantara combination seats. It will also have abundant luggage space according to Subaru.

So far, the styling and proportions of the concept look promising. Not much details were given by Subaru, we suspect it would be powered by the new 1.6-liter direct-injection turbo boxer engine mated to a Lineartronic CVT as seen with the Levorg Concept.
