7 years and going strong

If there's one thing we can be sure of, Toyota will go leaps and bounds to launch a car... but none more so than their bread and butter model, the Innova.

At a lavish launch event on the island paradise of Boracay, Toyota revealed the new look of their -and the country's- second best selling vehicle with the 2012 Innova. Toyota executives were present at the event, led by Mr. Michinobu Sugata (TMP President), Mr. Yuji Goto (TMP EVP), Mr. Raymond Rodriguez (TMP First Vice President for Marketing) and Mr. Daniel Isla (Lexus Manila President).

For 2012, the new Innova, undoubtedly the leader in the MPV/AUV segment since 2005, gets a bold new face, bringing it in line with the more upscale models in the Toyota line up like the Camry. The front has been thoroughly updated with a new profile, new headlamps, grille and bumper. The side profile remains much the same, with new 15 inch alloy wheels (E Grade and up) and other bits. The rear end has also been updated with new, clearer taillights and a new chrome garnish.

The interior, too, has been upgraded and updated. A new dashboard design updates the old one with a new look and feel, new trim bits and other pieces. The new Innova gets a new in-dash stereo system with USB connect for the higher variants, and typical power features associated with each variant in the Innova line up. G and V variants get the fully automatic climate control system while E and J variants get a the manual dual aircon system with updated dials and controls.

Under the hood, Innova customers can still choose between either the 2.5 liter D-4D turbodiesel engine with 102 horsepower and 260 Newton meters (A/T) / 200 Newton meters (M/T) or the 2.0 liter VVT-i gasoline engine with 136 horsepower and 182 Newton meters. E grade models and up can be had with the 4-speed gate type automatic transmission.

The new Innova comes in a range of colors, and can now be had in Light Blue Metallic, Red Mica Metallic and White Pearl. The prices are as follows:
