Toyota remains on top with 45% total market share
Based on the most recent CAMPI report, Toyota Motor Philippines (TMP) posted 22% growth in September. The manufacturer registered total sales of 5,786 units as compared to 4, 725 units during the previous month. During this time, Toyota increased its share by 4 points garnering almost half of the total market at 45%.
On a year to date basis, TMP is on track to win its 11th consecutive triple crown retaining the no.1 spot across all segments with 44.3% market share in the passenger car segment led by the Vios with a total of 1,363 units sold and 40% share in the commercial vehicle segment led by the Innova with a total of 1,188 units sold. All in all, the manufacturer tallied a total of 46,169 units with 41% market share.
In a statement TMP President Mr. Michinobu Sugata stated “The decrease in sales last August was largely due to the monsoon rains that plagued the Philippines. For the month of September, we are very pleased with the industry’s sales performance as this shows that the market has recovered from lost sales opportunities. Furthermore, we at TMP are once again ready to serve our customers demands. With this said, I am very confident that Toyota will able to end the year strong and go for record breaking sales in 2012.”
