The Tarlac-Pangasinan-La Union Expressway (TPLEX) temporarily opened the 14-kilometer stretch from Rosales to Urdaneta today for holiday season until the visit of Pope Francis to the Philippines for Northbound travelers. "This is our way of saying thank you to the thousands of motorists traveling north this holiday season. We are expecting about 18,000 to 20,000 vehicles per day during this period," said Mark Dumol, president and COO of Private Infra Development Corporation (PIDC).

TPLEX Carmen Exit

The 88.58-kilometer TPLEX project is currently in the finishing stages for its second phase that connects Rosales to Urdaneta City, Pangasinan. It will be opened until January 5, and then again from January 16-20. It will then be closed for final resurfacing and re-open on February with an estimated additional toll fee of Php53-55. The extension is expected to cut travel time from Tarlac to La Union by at least 1 hour.

"The additional fee includes a previously uncollected 8 to 9 Pesos which covers the 2.4-kilometer stretch from Carmen to Tumana, which the Toll Regulatory Board was not able to consider before," Dumol added.

A ceremonial trial run and blessing was done this morning December 20, 2014 from Rosales to Urdaneta headed by PIDC president and COO Dumol.

The third and final phase of the TPLEX which connects Urdaneta City all the way to Rosario, La Union is expected to be completed by 2016 with a midway exit in Pozzorubio, Pangasinan expected to open  by end of 2015.
