Still offered with petrol, diesel or hybrid engines

Toyota has launched revised versions of its Yaris hatchback in Europe and its equivalent Vitz hatchback in Japan.

The company said in a press release that the new cars have “refreshed styling, an improved interior and upgraded dynamics.”

“Since its launch, the Yaris has been one of the main pillars of our product offer. Last year, it was the 10th best-selling name plate in the Europe. What makes it unique is the availability of a Hybrid version. In the reality of today’s congested traffic, there is simply no way to beat a Hybrid for comfort and stress-free transportation, and ever more customers are finding out,” said Agustin Martin, Marketing Director for Toyota Motor Europe.

The company also said the exterior follows the ‘Under Priority’ and ‘Keen Look’ design languages.

In front, the upper and lower grilles have been restyled to form a cross. The rear has been substantially revised with light-emitting diode (LED) tail lights, a diffuser and a new license plate area.

Inside, the company said it has changed the interior to accomplish three goals: increase the feeling of roominess and dynamism, lift perceived quality levels and add choice in terms of colors and equipment. In addition, the suspension has been revised to improve ride and handling.

All Yaris/Vitz are available with petrol engines, ranging from a 1.0-liter, three-cylinder to a 1.5-liter, four-cylinder VVT-i. It also has a 1.4-liter D4-D turbodiesel and a hybrid powertrain.

The engines could be paired to a 5-speed or 6-speed manual, a 4-speed automatic or a continuously variable transmission.

The changes will not affect the ASEAN market Yaris introduced locally at the start of April 2014.
