Plans to cater to a more upscale market
Volvo recently added former Saab product developer Mats Fägerhag to its roster of executives. The 50 year old Fägerhag is expected to seek out partnership with suppliers and third parties for Volvo.
“It was a very difficult decision to make and I have had many sleepless nights. But right now I am not employed by any company anymore. And I feel its time for me to do something new.” Says Mats Fägerhag about his decision.
Mats Fägerhag is 50 years old and started at Saab in 1992. During his first years he worked with body-development and was later responsible for exterior development. A few years later he was moved to Rüsselsheim to work in the common development-department GM had created for Saab and Opel.
In lieu of this, Volvo’s new North American-market CEO, John Maloney, says that Volvo is planning to make its products more pleasing to the upscale market to increase their share of the premium car market. Volvo's lineup of sedans, the XC60 midsize crossover will be part of Volvo's efforts.
