At the top of the safety class

The American Insurance Institute for Highway Safety, or IIHS, recently named the new Volvo S60 as its Top Safety Pick. The all new S60 received top marks in a battery of tests for rollovers, frontal, rear and side collisions.

To garner the Top Safety Pick Award, a car must also have electronic driver's aids to prevent collisions like ABS, stability and traction control systems, all of which the S60 has, along with Pedestrian Safety which automatically brings the vehicle to a halt in city speeds should it detect an oncoming pedestrian. Other features include driver alerts, adaptive cruise control and lane departure warning.
