With a rugged and no-fear design, it embodies a go-anywhere attitude
The iconic Beetle from Volkswagen spans generations of motorist and inspires motorists, bringing them back to when they just first learned to drive the stick and finding out first-hand how much fun driving can be.
Well, the folks at Volkswagen took all that and packaged it in a rugged, tough-looking, go-go vehicle that will be displayed for the first time at the 2014 North American International Auto Show in Detroit.
Say hello to the Beetle Dune.
The Beetle Dune Concept shows a more feasible and the sportiest design of a Beetle yet. The body was raised by two inches and the roof was designed to accommodate either a ski rack or a sandboard to show you its go-anywhere attitude.
The Dune Concept is a front-wheel off-road machine and will be powered by a 210-horsepower turbocharged TSI engine mated to a six-speed DSG dual-clutch automatic transmission. It will sport a strut-type front and multilink rear suspension, with the XDS electronic differential lock providing further traction.
