The 9th Bimmerfest floods Bonifacio High Street with BMWs
Every May, BMW enthusiasts all over the world gather together for their respective Bimmerfests. The Philippines is not an exception for this day of appreciation for everything BMW. The 9th Bimmerfest was spearheaded by none other than the BMW Car Club of the Philippines, the only officially recognized BMW car club by BMW AG and the International Council of BMW Clubs. Despite the rainshowers, the show was still on and it brought a different kind of flood as some of the metro's nicest BMWs flooded the Bonifacio High Street with an assortment of preserved, restored and tuned BMW vehicles.
A total of thirty-nine of the club's best looking cars were feted in the traditional show and shine competition. The following were adjudged the winners in their respective categories after careful inspection and much deliberation:
BEST INTERIOR – Jowin Claudio – E34 525i
BEST EXTERIOR – Tonet Itchon – E30 M3
BEST HERITAGE MODEL – Mark Robles – E36 325ci
BEST MODERN MODEL – Sanny Sarcia – E60 525i
BEST SPECIAL MODEL – Ogie Abastillas – Z4
BEST GUEST DISPLAY – Dondi Custodio – Z4M
People’s Choice Award – Khris Yang – E82 1M
Aftermarket parts distributors and service companies were also present to show their latest offerings as well as launch new brands and products. Brembo was officially debuted by Autoperformance Philippines which recently acquired distribution of the popular Italian brake products. Wheel Gallery debut its new Kelleners Sport wheel and tuning products lineup, the German brand has been long associated with BMW performance and styling modifications. Bilstein and H&R presented their latest BMW offerings through distributor Makna Marketing. ARC Automotive officially introduced its new Sonax professional detailing services. Race Chip was also present for those who want a little more performance out of their BMWs. Official Philippine BMW distributor Asian Carmakers Corporation displayed the new BMW M5 which it recently unveiled at the 2012 Manila International Auto Show.
The festivities were opened by the Brigada band and high-trotting stiltwalkers and culminated with a party to celebrate the camaraderie of the members and the three letters they love – B.M.W. Autoperformance Ph also held its Brembo GT5 Challenge with the BMW M3 on Monza Circuit which was won by Chiko Ward for the Club Member Category and yours truly for the Media Class.
