I have a Toyota Revo 2003 SR diesel 2.0L, I had no problem the first few months I've been using this car, one time I fueled up in this gas station here in Sucat, the gas pump dried up while it it was loading me up in other words natuyuan yung pump habang kinakargahan yung sasakyan.
At first I thought it was ok, so I didn't bother to have the vehicle checked. Then after a few weeks we went to Pampanga, on the way I stopped by this food chain to grab a bite, I left the engine running coz my mom was in the car. When I got back the engine is dead but still the key was in ignition mode. I asked my mom what happened then she told that it just died, so I tried to restart the engine but it refused to start. I figured that it was the fuel filter maybe it's dirty so I tried pumping the filter and tried to restart the engine, it started but it was very shaky so I just pumped on the gas pedal untill the shaking went away and wen't back on the road, while on the road I notced a big change in the speed and fuel consumption of the car I was going 120kph, 5th gear, and had 4,000 on my RPM meter I figured that was not right coz I used to go 130-140kph at that stats and the fuel went down very rapidly like there was a small leak in my tank wen we got home I just pumped on the filter once more, well I got good results for a while like about 2 days or so but the problem retunred.
So I brought the vehicle to Toyota and told them about my problem, but I was very disappointed because when I got the vehicle back it still had the same problem, I told them to check my filter and to tune the engine up, but they were not able to fix my problem.
I had a friend mechanic who tried to fix this problem for me so we tried to remove the filter and there the problem was, the dirt in the filter was like all muddy. So we replaced it and he told me that I would have the same power I had back then and same fuel economy. I seem to have more power now although I haven't had the time to really test it yet but the fuel economy part is still poor. I know this is a long story but I hope you can help me out. Thanks.

Dear Hemelen,
You may have to pull down the tank and totally clean it inside out. Yes, it's very time consuming and a big hassle, but you just have to do it and buy new fuel filters again. Sad to say, your fuel tank might be contaminated. Unless you clean it, your problem will persist.
Thanx for writing.
