Hi,
I am using fully synthetic oil in my engine and change it every 10Tkms. Sometimes it takes almost one year before I reach the 10T km. Then somebody told me that we should change the oil every 6 months or after 5T km whichever comes first. I tried to ask others and I get mix answers. Can you help me clarify this?

Dear Ronnie,
The best is to follow the instructions of your owners manual. 5000kms is the best or every 6 months whether you use synthetic or mineral. Just think of the analogy this way. An engine is like the human body, it gets dirty through time and moisture. Just like the human body, you have to drain and expel your fluids and replenish it with new stuff. Truly, synthetics are expensive, but think of it this way, you can have the most expensive perfume and cologne and even the best designer european made clothes but if you take a bath only once a week, you'll still be dirty right? Think about it. Don't scrimp on your maintenance schedule. Follow it. Thanx for writing.
