Squeaking brakes

Hey Gibs!

Whenever i step on the brakes of my civic, i always hear a loud and very high pitched sound on my front-left wheel. it sounds like metal to metal contact. although i dont feel a slight deterioration in braking power, the loud sound is very very annoying. (especially in enclosed spaces like mall parking areas) What could be wrong here? (I also notice a lot of cars in the streets having sqeaking brakes)

Thanks, and More Power to you guys at AutoIndustriya!

There is a probability the brake pads are almost worn out. Then again,It
could also be a sign of dirty brake pads as grime and metal oxides are
imbedded into the pad and when applied pressure, the metal oxides create a
screeching sound as if its metal to metal. Have the brake pads inspected and
sanded down to clean until a small layer lining will be removed from the pad
surface, that should solve it. Thanx for writing.
