Whats the difference between a wastegate and a blowoff valve? Do you need a blowoff valve in a turbo charge(intercooler) engine? What will be the effect if you dont have this installed or advantage or disadvantage if you installed a blow off valve. Is it really normal for a turbo charge engine to reduce the oil level. why is it? Thanks in advance for all my Questions.
more power!

A BOV releases air from the discharge pipe of the turbo compressor side when the throttle plate is closed,so that it will not back surge or over
pressurize the air pipe and bend the impeller blades (many cases, they
literally break the shaft through my experiences with my turbo shop years
ago).
The wastegate is the excess exhaust waste being thrown out or dumped out and goes out of your pipe when the certain boost pressure is attained and
releases it so it will slow down the turbine speed and maintain boost
pressure. Too much boost will blow up your head, gaskets, crack your
block, pistons, bend your rods, rings and crank. You need both! The survival of your engine relies on it. Without it,your engine will blow up(esp for the wastegate), the BOV is for the survival of the turbocharger unit and your longevity of your pipings and intercooler.
