Hi,
I just recently purchased a pre-owned Ford Everest 4x4 A/T. Do I really need to install a turbo timer? Is the turbo timer really for the convenience of the driver and for the longevity of the turbo intercooler? What do you think is the reason why this timer it is not built-in the unit?
Thanks,
Roel

Dear Sir,
I recommend you get a turbo timer since you have an automatic transmission. Its not made for the convenience, but its made to prolong the life of the turbo when cooling down after a hard drive. If you shut down your turbo when running really fast, the oil in the bearings boil and coke up with carbon varnish and deposits resulting in premature wear. The timer helps warm down or cool down the oil. A good 30sec to 1minute is all you need with a diesel. For the gas engines like evo, subau etc, 1-3mins is crucial. Thanx for writing.
