Power Steering Hum

I have a ’94 corolla Gli and is currently experiencing humming sound whenever I am turning the steering wheel to the left direction. This is encountered only when the car is at rest and I am trying to control the steering ( especially during parking ). I started having this problem after my power steering hose was replaced few months ago. It was traced to be leaky because I have to refill the power steering fluid every week. After replacement, I never refilled the Power steering fluid because the level never got down. Is my problem related to the hose? Does it mean that the steering fluid hardly reaches the steering pump thus, creating the humming sound? Although the steering has no impeded movement, its just that the sound is irritating.

The humming sound is a sign that you have a dirty system. The whole fluid system must be thoroughly flushed and be replace with the correct power steering fluid recommended by Toyota. Kindly check your manual. A dirty oil system causes humming or even future problems resulting to loss of pressure and breakdown. Replace it asap. Thanx for writing.
