Hello Mr. Gibs! I would just like to know if upgrading to an HID kit is really legal? I have heard that some MMDA traffic enforcers are apprehending drivers using HID bulbs for their cars.
Also, would you recommend HID bulbs made from China or Taiwan which are heck of a lot more cheaper than the so called "branded" ones? No offense meant! I know guys using hid bulbs which they bought for less than 10k and it looks great to me. Any input would be greatly appreciated! thanks and happy holidays!

Hi RV
HID kits are not illegal. Some premium cars actually have them as standard lighting. what is illegal are the ones with higher color temperature. These are the ones higher than 6000 kelvin, which actually give you less visibility on the road. You should get something which is 5000 kelvin or 4300 kelvin for optimum visibility on the road at night.
Prices of HID kits have considerably gone down due to the influx of HID kits from China. Check for warranty and reputation of the dealer before buying these, as they might break easily and you might have a hard time claiming warranty in the future. Taiwan made ones are considered to be of higher quality than China-made HID kits. But of course, branded ones coming from Philips or Hella are still better since they have strict quality control measures.
Thanks for writing!
