Upgrading headlamp bulbs

I drive a 1996 Honda Civic Lxi and right now the headlamps being used are the 60/50 bulbs. If I change them to 100/90 philips bulbs, do I need to have a relay installed so as not to burn any wiring or is it safe to just change bulbs to a higher wattage? Hope you can help me out. More power & thanks!

Yes you'll have to put a relay and bigger wires so that the higher current wont burn your fuses and switches. Its the safest alternative but make sure you have adequate amps from your alternator. Thanx for writing.
