Carbs and EFI

Hi Gibs,

Am currently tied up with the choice of either upgrading the engine of my Civic EF to a d15 single carb, d15 dual carb or a d15 fuel injected type. Will there be more pros than cons in using a fuel injected engine?

I know that it is more fuel efficient but I know also that it can be pretty very expensive when something goes wrong. About the carb engine, do you think I can buy repair kits, other parts for a dual carb? What's the percentage increase more or less in fuel consumption of having a dual carb
against a single? Will the single carb fit the dual carb intake mounting also?

Am wishing that the swap be done this weekend so I will be very thankful if i get a prompt reply.

Icebox

Dear icebox,

I guesss you just answered your own question. Yup, the twin eats more gas but it's easier to build and set. The EFI is harder to set up due to the wiring, electric pump, relays, harness, etc. and it's not always a perfect thing, it'll work at 1st click. The choice is yours, if ever you'll convert, make sure you have a second service car, money for contingencies and lots of patience. Better yet, dont waste your time with a d15, go b16 instead, you'll probably spend about the same money on the set up. Thanks for writing!
