Tie rod end

Hi Gibs,

My car is '94 Honda Civic LX. I have been noticing a slight steer to the left and I hear a humming noise from the front tires at around 40kph+ especially on asphalt. I have suspected wheel alignment or maybe bearing problem so I took it to GoodYear Servitek. The technician told me I have to replace the tie rod end. I don't know much about tie rod ends, why should I replace it?

Jonathan Pascual

Dear Jon,

The tie rod ends are connected to the tie rod bars which are connected to your rack and pinion steeering. The tie rod ends shake as time and wear goes by. Once the slack is just too big, and depending what side, I guess the left, then the car would veer to the left. Have it replaced immediately. Thnx 4 writing.
