Mr. Gibs,
I drive a 1992 corolla XE and having this knocking sound during engine braking and sudden acceleration, especially during heavy traffic when I have to shift from 1st to 2nd gear and vice versa. However, there's no such sound when I'm on rough roads or running over pot holes. I have already replaced my engine mountings but the irrititating knocking sound is still there. Please give me some advise on the probable sources of this sound.

Dear Mr. Libao,
You may have replaced the engine supports, but try checking or replacing the transmission supports near the firewall and check the ball joints of your A arms. Thnx 4 writing.
