Lean or rich

Sir,

I'm running a Honda SiR wid a B16 engine...I would like to ask if how could I know if my engine is LEAN or RICH...I'm aware of the air/fuel guages, but can Apexi Turbo/Auto Timer help me moniter my problem? Tnx..

Mico Vinarao

Dear Mico,

Turbo timers are just basically what they are, shut down automatic stop watches. The air fuel monitor however will work if you have an oxygen sensor like most US cars. With the SIR, it wont work, normally by trial and error, if you want a little power, go 13.7:1 but eats more gas, but if you want economy, go 14.5:1 but you'll lack top speed due to lean mixture. A good way to check if you're lean, check the plugs, if they're whitish light grey, that's lean. If it's chocolate light brown...normal, and if rich...black. Thanx 4 writing.
