Hello Gibs,
I have a 2000 lxi, from the beginning I've noticed that it eats a helluva lot more fuel for a 1.5 engine and I can smell gas from its exhaust (not that I inhale the fumes directly ok? hehehe) and there is a wet spot on the floor exactly where the exhaust was, I've read in this site a guy's post with the exact same problem, but he has a carb, don't all hondas use an EFI? If yes, then how could I remedy the problem? Your feedback is much appreciated. Great site! Very helpful! Keep it up!
Yong
Dear Yong,
The wet spot you see is the vapor leak coming from the exhaust. If it smell like fuel, rest assured it came from there. If it smells like water, it's probably water leak from the drain of the aircon. Over fuelling is a problem due to bad tune up or dirty injectors that need to be flushed or replaced if needed. As for the fumes, fix it or you might die of carbon monoxide especially if you're stuck in trafic, you'll just pass out and you won't wake up anymore. I've seen it before. It's no joke. You'll die.
